Rocky Shore

Torrey Pines is a lovely beach full of paintable hues of orange and lavender. This painting captures the beauty and solitude of the coastline with soft colors and long brush strokes.

Erin Hanson is indeed a classical impressionist painter. Her trademark features are narrow brushstrokes with built-in layers of paint that she allows to dry before adding another layer of color. Erin lays colors next to rather than on top of each other making heavy use of underpainting, which often functions as a facet of light and slightly tints the other colors to create a more unified painting.
