‘An idea forms on the piano wire, a tentative opening phrase forms in the corner of the studio. It is twelve years ago, or five, it is last year, or perhaps it is right now, this echo that wanes, still offering an opening. We are recording; nothing is expected, any reply is welcome, any kind of silence. Time passes as we listen to conversations we’ve had in this space over the past twenty years. They feel as recent as the one we’ve just had. Today we choose that one and sixteen others because they fit together and tell a story.”
