The Rauch Brothers 9/11 video

According to Story Corps, John Vigiano Sr. is a retired New York City firefighter whose two sons followed him into service. John Jr. was a firefighter, too, and Joe was a police detective. On September 11, 2001, both Vigiano brothers responded to the call from the World Trade Center, and both were killed while saving others. Here, John Sr. remembers his sons and reflects on coping with his tremendous loss.

Influences: What would you like to share with our audience and what effect do you hope to have on us?
I have been influenced by many artistic disciplines, having worked in Comic Books, Animation and Fine art. I think of my work as a combination of narrative, objective and non-objective. Consequently, I don’t fit cleanly into any single category. Like most artists, what I want to do is engage the viewer emotionally.

Back: If you could choose a past literary/art/music movement to be a part of, which would you choose?
The dawn of modern art—I would have loved to have tried to keep Picasso’s influence from not destroying Representational art, but merging with and complementing it, as it did for too short a period of time.
