“Money in the Eyes” exhibit by Alexander de Cadenet at FAB-Gallery in Santa Monica
"The Life Burger sculptures combine two opposing functions: they offer a sharp criticism of the society we live in and yet simultaneously they are luxury objects in their own right."
Exhibited for the first time, The Life Burger will open May 4th at FAB-Gallery. It will include the Veyron Berger, The Skull Burger, The Buddha Burger and the solid silver Trump Burger, which features President Trump riding a bison, (itself a sacred American Indian symbol) and is a multi-faceted reading of the Trump phenomenon and celebrity culture in America today.
A political filmmaker’s swan song chronicles a haunting close to an artist’s life
When film publicist Sasha Berman sends something over, we pay close attention to her indie films, which have artistic characteristics different from U.S. films — a certain rawness. They are culturally based, provative, and the subtitles give the film an even more intriguing perspective, as we found it so with her most recent premiere, AFTERIMAGE. Los Angeles Times film critic Robert Abele had this to say:
Andrzej Wajda’s “Afterimage” feels vividly connected to the Polish auteur’s beginnings, yet also acts as the kind of haunting close that sums up a life.

Art Today 06.16.17 On the Beach by Creaturo, Jr.
I read about art and culture, art magazines, I joined about 36 art groups on Facebook and then I started my own called Art Effects and now has over 21,000 friends there to share their artwork and critique. I’ve even been invited to international shows, but that involves a lot of packing the art and then packing and shipping it home if it doesn’t sell. But, it’s been a great experience having the group and meeting people all over the world. And, I do ‘gift of the day’ on my own page because it’s too much to try and upload it to all the groups.

The 2017 "super bloom" in southern California caused thousands of visitors to roam the desert and mountainsides, photographing the bright, abundant flowers. I explored the super bloom in Borrego Springs, and they were indeed the most beautiful I have ever seen in the desert! I was actually inspired to release a whole new collection of works of the super bloom, to be released later this summer.

Can we retire a conflict of art ideals that's not particularly worth upholding after all these years? It would seem like an art Gallery might be that place to start to let go of old beefs. That's usually where we go with the stated intension to relax and enjoy a day or night out anyway, recharge the art batteries and be inspired.
ART TODAY 10.7.17: The entire TribeLA Magazine Acrostic Interview with fine-art photographer Aline Smithson
I make almost all of my photographs close to home, with the exception of a few series. I shoot against my garage and throughout my house. I have a pink office where I surround myself with inspiration. But most of my creativity comes from inside my head, not in a room, pulled from a deep well of influences.

I'm interested in how technology alters our visual understanding of how images are constructed. This painting has a contemporary cut and paste feel, but also an organized chaotic arrangement reminiscent of history painting. It's my version of a beautiful world gone wrong.
